It’s so weird. Queen bring me so much joy you know? Also they make me cry every single time. Their lives are like an angsty fanfiction with a bittersweet ending.
I listen to their songs, sing them, dance to them and I feel completely happy. Then some songs hit me hard. Either because the lyrics are foreshadowing (Teo Torriatte or WWTLF for example) or because they tell their feelings and their thoughts about their life (Was it all worth it, TSMGO, TATOOL, Mother Love, Don’t try so hard and many others)… And I realise how much they have lived. I think about when they were young, hopeful, ambitious, arrogant and happy. I think about Freddie and Roger working and living together, Brian joining them. All of them finding John. Their first gigs, the hard work, the frustration due to the issues with Trident, Ridge Farm, the consecration with ANATO and the worldwide success that kept growing and growing… And with it the tensions, the excitement, the awareness of being one of the best bands ever, the band of the people. And then they got jaded, everyone lost a bit of control, they messed up, they still worked hard, they drifted apart and they got back together. More music, more tours, ups and downs. LIVE AID. New leaf. New energy. The Magic Tour…. And then…they had the entire world at their feet and they got robbed. The most terrible thing that could happen was lingering upon them. It came, they regrouped. More music, two albums. DENY DENY DENY. FUCKING WANKERS, LEAVE HIM ALONE. We are gonna make music, we are gonna protect. They did, till the very end. And music, music, music.
